Welcome to Cicero Net News

As an 83-year-old former Town of Cicero Supervisor, I was elated when the people elected three new Town Board Members that promised a new representative government. I did everything that these old bones allowed, which included a letter to the editor, calling people, sending post cards to other voters, and financial support. I felt that we were going to have elected officials that would listen to their constituents.

I have a hearing problem, and can not hear everything said at a Town Board Meeting.  I have asked this Board to change their procedure so that each and every person in the audience can
hear everything said during a meeting.  Everything was going fine until Item  Number 12 was read

12. Approval of Agreement with Pioneer Realty Company, to Release Right to Lease Certain property

This item brought forth a great deal of comments from the people in the audience, many of them could have remembered the fiasco known as Cicero Commons, and how it cost the Town its AAA credit rating and increased taxes. I asked The Town Board if they knew the history of Cicero Commons.  No one seemed to remember the details of the Original Cicero Commons.

I informed the Town Board that it was a meeting that violated the Open Meetings Law and that I would post it on this website within a couple of days. I started writing this edition many times in order to have it follow a pattern.

Let us start with a Town Board meeting on March 18, 1999 at 7:00 pm. which was a special meeting, attended only by the Town Board and its quests.  It violated th Open Meetings Law.  Note the names in this meeting.   Many of these people are still in Government.  Two were appointed by the town of Cicero on 1/5/2010 at their organizational meeting.  Plese click on Link to know the Open Meetings Law
